Day trip to Fairy Town – Hallstatt

Hallstatt is still one of my most favourite places that i’ve visited!

Short introduction on Hallstatt

Hallstatt is a small village located in the west of Lake Hallstatt with the first salt mine, named Salzwelten located in Hallstatt. It is also make known as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site for their cultural heritage in 1997.

**you may purchase your ticket directly from the OBB self service machine

**you may purchase the ferry ticket directly with the captain

Additional notes: upon alighting the train @ Hallstatt station, please just hurry off to ferry terminal and booked the best standing spots for photo taking. The view upon alighting the train is nice, but the view towards is even nicer!

What to do in Hallstatt?

1) Walk around Market Square & Old Town

It’s probably the first attraction when you arrived in Hallstatt.

2) Taking a stroll @ Lake Hallstatt & take photos with the swans

There are plenty of swans and even self-paddle boats if you would like to paddles around Lake Hallstatt to have a glimpse – the weather was too hot @ 38 degree Celsius during our visit hence we didn’t manage to paddle around the lake.

3) Visit to Salt Mine

A visit to salt mine completes Hallstatt! You may decide between just a salt mine tour, or salt mine tour + round trip funicular.

Prices as below,

Adults: €34.00 (salt mine + funicular), €24.00 (salt mine)

Children (age 4-15): €17.00 (salt mine + funicular), €12.00 (salt mine)

2 adults + 1 children family package: €71.00 (salt mine + funicular), €50.00 (salt mine)

For more details on the prices, you may refer to its official website.

I would opt for the one which includes both salt mine & funicular as you would get a chance to have a view of Hallstatt from the top.

4) Hallstatt Skywalk lookout (Welterbeblick)

The skywalk lookout is just minutes walk away once you’ve reached the top via funicular.

5) Lunch @ Rudolph Tower Restaurant

The view from the restaurant is magnificent. Despite such hot weather it was very windy while we’re having our meals.

It is located just minutes walk from the skywalk.

6) Dachstein Krippenstein & Five Fingers

Being included as one of the UNESCO World Heritage attraction for its spectacular view.

However we’re unable to visit Dachstein Krippenstein & Five Fingers due to time constraint ☹️
